Energy Prediction
The world¡¯s fossil energy is limited and non-renewable. Here are some sobering predictions:
2020: Chinese petroleum reserves will come close to depletion
2040: Global petroleum reserves will be depleted
2060: Natural gas reserves will be depleted
The world¡¯s population is increasing and the industrialization of many nations is rapidly reaching a crescendo. Therefore, the earth's energy crisis is becoming more serious every day.
The situation of energy in China is also pessimistic.
In 1993, China began to import petroleum from foreign countries.
In 2005, the annual petroleum production of China reached 182 million tons, however China still needed to import an additional 127 million tons. Out of this total 309 million tons petroleum, about 129 million tons was used for producing 90 million tons of car fuel.
Due to China¡¯s fast economic development, the gap between available supply and demand will gradually widen. This will be further exacerbated when petroleum resources in China are used up in around 15 years. Therefore, it is a priority for China and other economies to seek a cost effective replacement for petroleum by rapidly developing reliable sources of renewable energy.
